Moranbah Update

Moranbah Service Station to install new technology

In March, Chris Stewart, UCS Business Manager, and Melita Farley, Project Coordinator, from the Cooperative Brisbane office visited Moranbah to meet members and to talk to staff at the Cooperative's service station about the future direction of the business.

While they were only able to meet a small number of members, the meetings were positive and productive.  "We got some really great information from members and staff about the Moranbah community, and lots of ideas from them about what could be done to improve or add to the services the Cooperative already provides in the area", says Melita.  "It was also good to meet both members and staff and put names to faces".

Running a business?

Interested in providing discounted services to other Cooperative members?

One of the main objects of the Union Cooperative Society is to "promote and improve the economic interests of members through mutual associations".  While the Cooperative provides a range of services that meet this objective, we would also like to encourage members who run a business to consider contributing to this objective by offering other Cooperative members discounted or special services.

301 Given Terrace News

Cooperative considers expanding 301 Given Terrace site.

 

The Union Cooperative is currently investigating options for further development behind the office at 301 Given Terrace.  Currently under investigation are options for building more residential properties, or a mix of residential and commercial properties that could fit well with the 2 Latrobe Centre complex.  Look out for more details soon!

 

 

 

Planning for the future

New business plan in the pipeline

 

As members would be aware, the Cooperative is concentrating on a reform development agenda for the next

2 - 3 years.  As part of this process, we have been spending time putting together a new Business Plan for the organisation for the 2007 - 2010 period.  This plan will include organisational reform, the development of our existing business in Moranbah, the new business trading as the Brisbane Workers' Community Centre and feasibility studies on the suggestions made by our members in a survey taken in 2005.

Cashless Office

Cooperative does not hold cash in its office

 

For security reasons, the Union Cooperative office no longer holds cash on its premises.  If you would like to make a cash withdrawal, please ring in advance (preferably by no later than 9am on the day you wish to make a withdrawal) so we can arrange for cash to be ready for you.

 Did you know you can deposit funds into your Cooperative accounts using electronic banking?  This makes it easy to regularly add to your trading or savings account, or even to your investment.  Electronic banking allows you to make one-off deposits, or you can set up a regular automatic payment to take all of the hassle out of saving money.
